12/24/11-Paula's Eating/Exercise Journal: Saturday

Manage your holiday stress by utilizing freewill!

Freewill allows you to make choices about:

- Make workout a priority at this time of year and for the whole year in general.  If you can atleast get out for a walk, or do some body-weight strength training in your room, you will feel rejuvinated.

-Food choices- not eating foods you don’t want to, to please “Aunt Betty’, or your Mom.  Explain to them how clean eating makes you feel, and how you'll feel after that 300 calorie cinnamon bun.

-Food choices- Allow yourself a holiday treat, in moderation.  It's about portion control.

-Emotional responses- Don’t go on an outing if you don’t want to, don’t let your family draw you into drama you’d rather not participate in…realize that their baggage and stresses leads them to thier responses to you.

-Drink moderately- You can’t take back those photos on Facebook with a funny hat on, sitting on Santa’s knee

-Enjoy the mystery of children’s joy.Try to grab some for yourself.  Be silly, even for a moment.  Yesterday when I went for a walk I wore a sparkly Santa hat.  I saw atleast 5 people pass who looked, and SMILED!  That makes it worth a bit of humiliation to me.

- Create a peaceful routine- include 10 minutes of focus on your breathing, being grateful, being quiet,  loving yourself.

-Look at yourself in the mirror while getting ready for your holiday event and marvel at your efforts!

-Share your new passion for working out and eating clean with others that you haven’t seen in a while. You may find a new workout buddy that revitalizes your energy for the process.

-Do something nice for someone in need.It truly warms your soul.

-Enjoy the day off from work- PUT YOUR BLACKBERRY AWAY FOR ATLEAST ½ A DAY. FREE YOURSELF FROM THE CORD OF COMMUNICATION!

You may not always control what happens, but you can decide how you choose to react to it…its call FREEWILL.

Live large, enjoy life!  It's your choice!

This is a concept I've become more engaged with as I teach freewill to my children in regard to the choices ( good and bad) that they make, and I utilize freewill myself when trying to keep my priorities (children, blogging, workout, community service, fashion) straight.  It's a process!
