6/12/11 Katie's Healthy Eating Journal: Sunday

So remember yesterday I was freaking out because I had gained almost 4 pounds from eating Indian on my birthday?  Luckily, the scale went back down this morning and it only shows that I've gained .4 (so I'm exactly where I was at last week).  I'm completely OK with this.  Why can't I take my own advice and only do a weigh-in weekly instead of daily?!  Might I add, that's a lot of sodium that must be in Indian food!  You either love Indian food or you hate it.  But, if you love it then it's important to educate yourself on what's healthy and what is not.  Let's start with what is more healthy because that's more positive to me.

-Indian food usually contains a ton of veggies

-large amount of spices which usually contain antioxidants

-gives vegetarians more variety and includes a lot of dairy which can count as a protein; many dishes are made with yogurt which aids in helping the immune and digestive system

What's unhealthy about Indian?

-stay away from the fried dishes

-cook it homemade so your veggies are dense with nutrients; not cooked into mush which contains no nutritional value

-cook it with whole grains instead of white rice

-order it with no oil little cream if it is cream-based

I am still hoping for even a .2 weight loss so I'm going to commit to cardio every other day until I get weighed on Wednesday.  We'll see how it goes...
